Santa Cruz Watershed Stakeholder meeting

  • Chimayo Museum 13 Plaza Del Cerro Chimayo, NM, 87522 United States (map)

Please join us to discuss your needs for improving water supply availability and resiliency. The purpose of developing the Santa Cruz Watershed restoration plan though stakeholder input is to benefit all those who live and work in the watershed.

We will be asking for stakeholders to participate in the Watershed Group and restoration plan development. The Rio Santa Cruz and its tributaries are the life support for retaining cultural practices, land value, economic opportunity, quality of life, and ecosystem function. The value of stakeholder participation cannot be overstated!

The meetings, refreshments, lunch, and watershed tours are free. We only need your time and insightful input.

Some Potential Topics to Discuss:

1. Is there an adequate plan for protection for catastrophic fire?

               2. Soil erosion and stream sedimentation, what can we do?

              3. Will improvement to streambank health protect land and                                     irrigation infrastructure?

            4. How does the community get more value out of this precious                                stream system?

             5. How can restoring and managing the watershed better the                                   watershed communities and preserve cultural                                                       significance?
